“A significant number of Canadian companies plan to increase their staff size in 2013, but finding the right candidates continues to be a challenge, and is causing myriad of ills to employers, from stress to time away from focusing on important strategic decisions. While a shortage of candidates with specific skills remains a problem, many employers also report a lack of soft skills such as work ethic and communications among candidates.
For the most part, employers do not view young job seekers as a solution, citing concerns about both a lack of experience and unrealistic expectations.
